Register for Seed Producing Firm Or Seed Processing Unit In India By Yourself

  • A seed processing/processing company may be established by a single individual, group of people, a company or an organization to expand or coordinate the production of seeds.
  • Anyone who is possessing their own land for agriculture and is able to produce their own supply of seeds, according to the requirements for the production of seeds. They must apply to the state’s seeds certification office.

  • Send the completed application along with payment of registration fee in challan with all the documents required as specified in our session on required documents.
  • After approving the application after which the officials will review the application documents.
  • If all is in place authorities will issue a receipt to the approved application.
  • The application submitted will be reviewed through the Department. The documents submitted will be scrutinized.
  • Seed Certification Official (SCO) will visit the premises and conduct checks as per the norms.
  • The verification of the seed’s source and class as well as other prerequisites of the seeds used in cultivating the seeds will be taken care of.
  • Field inspections that verify conformity with established field standards will be conducted.
  • The supervision of post-harvest phases, including packaging and processing will be carried out.
  • Based on the report of Seed Certification Officer (SCO) the application will be referred to SCO to final approval.
  • After the license has been prepared by the signature and seal from the relevant authority, the the applicant is notified of their right to pick up the License.
  • At that time the applicant will be able to collect the license, or it will be issued according to the applicable rules.

Note:

  • Processing unit must be established within one calendar month after the the issue of registration
  • The monthly progress report on Seed Processing and Certification is due in the 1st week of each month.

  • After the license has been prepared with the seal and signature of the authority responsible, applicants are notified to pick up the License.

  • Processing unit must be set up within a month of the issue of the registration

Eligibility

  • Because the process involves crop cultivation and processing the plant should be located near or inside the farm where crops are being cultivated
  • With their own farm land and is able to produce their own supply of seeds
  • Proper conversion of the land (agriculture into industrial) in accordance with state government regulations
  • Other criteria, as advised by the department.

Fees

  • According to authorities.

Validity

  • Valid for one year.
  • The certificate has to be renewed prior to expiration of the validity time with an annual renewal fee, as specified by the authority of the state at any the date.
  • Violation of aforesaid terms and conditions by the registered organisation/Institution will lead to cancellation of this registration by respective department at any stage before the expiry of the validity period.

Processing Time

The entire process of granting the licence takes place in 30 (working) calendar days after the day the application is received by the licensing issuing authority.
