Renew Sole Trader Registration In Jamaica By Yourself

  1. You can renew your sole trader registration by submitting a request to the Companies Office of Jamaica.
  2. You can obtain the renewal application form from the COJ’s Office or download it from their website – COJ Forms. Or, you can download the form directly from this link – Sole Proprietor form BN1.
  3. Complete the form exactly as directed.
  4. Attach the supporting documents to the application form.
  5. Pay the renewal fee at cashier at the COJ’s Office and get the payment receipt.
  6. Submit the completed application to the COJ assisting officer at the service section.
  7. After receiving your application, the officer will issue you a notice acknowledging receipt. Your application will then be sent to the appropriate authority for processing and approval.
  8. The COJ will review your application, and if it’s correct, they will approve it. They will also process the necessary renewal documents.
  9. You can collect your renewed business registration certificate by visiting the COJ office at the time indicated on the receipt notice.

Please note that late renewals may incur a J$1000 charge

Fees

  • Renewal fees for sole traders are J$2,500

Validity

  • The validity of a business registration certificate is for three years. It should be renewed on time to avoid additional renewal fees.
