- To apply for a Certified True Copy of Document in person, the applicant is required to go to the Federal Marriage Registry.

- Visit the office and get an application form for a Certified True Copy of the document from the appropriate department.

- To apply for an Special Marriage License online, the applicant must go to the ECITIBIZ portal of the Ministry of Interiors, Nigeria by clicking on the following web-based application button
- If you already have an account you can input the information for the user, then go to “Log into” and continue. If you don’t, click the “New User Registration” link below and select on the “Personal account (Marriage)” option on the “Personal” tab on the next screen.
- Click the “register right now” button. Registration page will be displayed, fill in all the required information choose the checkbox and then click the “Register” click. The account preview will be shown Scroll down, then select the “Proceed” click.
- A confirmation message will be sent out to you email address You must open the email, then click”click here” to activate your account “click here” link to activate your account. Within the confirmation email, “click here” link will appear and you can click it to continue.
- The Login page will open Log in again following the steps mentioned earlier. After you have logged in, go to the “Marriage” tab, then select the “overview” choice.
- You can look up the kinds of marriage permitted according to the Marriage Act of Nigeria and the description of the types of services provided to couples by the Ministry of Interior through the portal which opens.
- After that, select”Requirements” and then click on “Requirements” option on the same tab, where you will find the necessary conditions to meet to get married. In accordance with the requirements listed you must prepare the documents that will be uploaded.
- After you have been cleared by the necessary requirements Once you have completed the process, click on “Prohibited Graduation of Relationship” option in the same tab to determine the marriage degree that is permitted.
- Read it carefully and make sure you are not in any of the conditions mentioned.
- Choose the “fees information” option to find information about the amount of fees that must be made online.
- After you’ve completed all the steps to prepare, you have scans of all needed documents, you will need the required amount of money to pay online.
- Apply for Marriage by clicking on the “Apply for a Certifiable True Copy of Document” option on the “Marriage” Tab.
- The online application page will open. Complete all fields in different sections , entering the relevant information and then make the selections according to your preference.
- You must provide all relevant information under “Application Details” tab, then include the information of the spouse and husband under their respective tabs.
- Upload the documents you need by clicking the “Upload” button, located under “Documents Upload” section.
- Once you’ve completed, click the “Proceed” button If you wish to make the payment. If not, click the “Save to draft” button, which saves the application as draft . You can then pay at your preference.
- The summary of your application will be displayed. Go through it once and if you find you find any mistakes you need to click the “back” button in order to correct the mistake or alternatively, make sure you check the declaration box after having read the declarations. Then then click the “Proceed to pay” button.
- The Payment Summary will be displayed with two payment options. If you would like to make a payment at a branch of an ATM or a POS select the “Pay via the Bank, or POS” radio button, then click the “Proceed” click.
- Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) also known as an electronic invoice is created with the help of which you can pay in the branch or at POS. Scroll down, and then click the “Print” button to print your invoice.
- If you wish to pay via the internet, click on “Online Pay” radio button and then click “Pay” option. The payment gateway will appear. Follow the screen instructions and enter the card’s details and complete the online payment in the manner that is appropriate.
- The online transaction identification or printed receipt for online transaction will be generated , which acts as a evidence of payment.
- When the application is submitted and payment is successful, the application and the documents attached will be submitted to be verified and validated.
