How to Apply for Electrical Installations Certification in Nigeria

Apply for Electrical Installations Certification in Nigeria By yourself

  • In order to apply for electrical installation Certification you need to submit your application through an electrical contractor with an authorized electric distribution corporation (DisCos) within your area. Find contact information for the approved DisCos within Nigeria and get DisCos contact information.
  • After you have found the right electrical contractor the contractor starts by identifying a distribution firm (DisCos) within your region and then obtaining an application form. The contractor then has to fill out the form and send it back to distribution companies with any other documents.
  • After receiving the application after receipt, the company will look over your application and determine whether you meet the requirements.
  • If the application is accepted and the electrician is approved, he will receive an approval letter , along with a list with external items you must purchase within the items listed in the letter include the distribution transformer cables, installation accessories and other connection items.
  • Get the materials you need and pay the survey fee at the distribution office.
  • Then , your contractor should make a request for an on-site visit from an engineer from your distribution firm.
  • The representative from the distribution company will visit the location to determine that the materials bought from the outside are of good quality , and whether the materials have been bought directly from distributors who are authorized.
  • Once the materials are approvedby the engineer, an engineer issues a certificate of approval. The engineer will then begin the installation of the materials in the manner required.
  • After the installation the contractor will request an inspection of the site from the Inspecting Engineer at NEPA. Nigerian Electrical Power Authority (NEPA).
  • NEPA is sending an inspection engineer to your location and the engineer who inspects your site will inspect all the items to determine if they are of the right quality and also if they were properly installed. Be sure to send the inspection engineer the confirmation note from DisCos.
  • When the inspection is complete and the inspector is able to verify that the installation was complete as per the specifications the inspector will draft the certificate of conformity and give this to the owner.
  • After that, make the required cash payment in the Federal Ministry of Power and Steel and finally, you will receive the Inspection Certificate.
