Australia is implementing an National Driver Licensing Scheme (NDLS). The scheme resulted in the establishment of a single licence for drivers, a design, classification system and eligibility requirements and a set of uniform rules for important licence-related transactions, such as the issue, modification or renewal, suspension or cancelling of licenses.

While Australia has an NDLS that is a federated licence scheme (administered by each state and territories) The NDLS is a standard for all Australian jurisdictions.
