Apply for Registration Certificate for in-Patient Health Units above 500 Beds (City) In Uganda By Yourself

  1. To apply to be registered patients in the Health Unit above 500 beds The applicant must visit at The Uganda nurses and midwives Council office and submit an application form C, in a procedure as specified in the Council. visit their website by clicking the following Link
    • The Act stipulates that any entity or person who plans to establish an individual health center must submit a request to the council for the registration of an inpatient health facility in the city that has more than 500 beds.
  2. Candidates are required to complete and submit an application template available at the Uganda nurses and midwives head office. It is the Uganda nurses and midwives Council (Licensing Board) Regulations, outlines the application form to obtain the licence.
  3. Fill out the form completely complete and with all relevant documentation to Uganda nurse and midwives’ Council. If you fail to submit the required documents will make the application inadmissible.
  4. The Uganda nurses and midwives of the Council Licensing board shall, within 7 days after receipt of the application, conduct an investigation and produce a thorough report on the application.
  5. Pay a non-refundable License Application fee in the amount of 2 million 4 hundred thousand(2,400,000) dollars to the Uganda midwives and nurses Council (Licensing) Board.
  6. The Act stipulates the procedure for registration. the council is able to, after conducting the inquiry that it thinks necessary, and obtaining an amount set by council grant the registration of a specific health facility.
  7. The council will inform the applicant in writing, of its decision. within seven days following the mentioned time frame and The Health committee of Uganda nurses and midwives Council shall after registration, an in-patient health units with more than 500 beds will become registered as per the Act and a license will be issued in accordance with Form D of the Third Schedule or may choose to not issue the license. It will provide the reasons in the notification.
  8. The council may decide at its discretion, and subject to any conditions the council can decide the registrar is able to registeran in-private Health Unit operated by a nurse, medical assistant or midwife, as situation is, solely for the usage of a corporate body of an institution under the supervision by a registered physician.
  9. The council will create a health facility to be announced in the Gazette shortly after registration has been approved and a license is issued to a health facility with details of the Health unit as specified in the section 30(1) of the Act.
  10. The registration will be subject to conditions and terms that the committee on health of Uganda nurses and the midwives Council decides to be appropriate. Private health units is also subject to oversight and supervision through the committee on health from Uganda nurses as well as midwives Council.
  11. A license will expire at the date of date of issue. The license can be renewed for a year at one date.

Eligibility

  • Any health practitioner who wants to establish an individual health center that has an in-patient unit that has more than 500 beds within the city area, are eligible for application.

Fees

  • The license fee for registration of the unit for patient health USh.2,400,000.

Validity

  • The validity period for registration of for a health center with more than 500 beds will be one year.

Processing Time

  • The maximum processing time required for the registration process of the health unit is five days

Instructions

  • All inpatient clinics must sign up with Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council and be familiar of the rules that govern the practice of medicine in Uganda.
