How To Apply for Residency Permit In Antigua and Barbuda

  1. In order to obtain a residency permit, you’ll need to personally visit at the Immigration Department. You should determine if you have to schedule an appointment to an official from the Immigration Department before going (see contact details under ‘Office Locations and contacts’).

Note: Students are not allowed to work when they have this status.

What Are All The Eligibility

A Resident Permit may be granted to anyone who, as a result of an existing residency, has lived in Antigua or Barbuda for a period of four years with no interruption.

In addition the applicant must fulfill the conditions for grant of a permit to reside.

Resident permits may be granted to different categories of people, for example:

  • A student following one year of being in an institution of higher education,
  • A person who is independent after having resided within Antigua or Barbuda during two years.
  • A government employee
  • A businessperson or investor who have acquired 2 years work permits from Antigua and Barbuda
  • A person who has completed one year of union to a citizen from Antigua or Barbuda.

Validity

A Residency Permit is issued to residents for 3 (3) three (3) years.

If the motive for staying at Antigua or Barbuda is for study purposes and are expected to have to be finished within a specified period of time that is known beforehand, the permission is granted, at the discretion at the discretion of the authorities, for a shorter time but not for longer than three (3) years.
