Step One:

The applicant should get Forms A and B along with other details from the closest Immigration Office or by downloading it from the Immigration website: Ministry of internal Affairs

Step 2 :

The form should be completed personally by the person applying for approval by Area local councils 1 2 3. RDC along with DISO.

Step Three:

After endorsements , the applicant should go to at any URA Revenue Collection Bank, such like Bank of Africa, Diamond Trust Bank, Stanbic, Crane, Barclays, Orient and so on and pay the passport fees. A Passport cost Uganda Shillings, UGX 150,000 for normal applications. It is UGX 300000 for Express applications. 250,000 for official Passports and 300000 to apply for Diplomatic Passports. The fees are inclusive of bank charges, which differ between banks i.e. UGX 2200 to UGX 3000.

Step Four:

You will receive the bank’s receipt, which you can attach to your application.

Step Five:

Place your documents in a manila folder and then present them IN PERSON to the officer who is receiving them who are located at the Passport Receiving Section at the Ministry of Internal Affairs or the nearest Passport Control Office or the Regional Immigration Office. A Receipt Slip will be given to you, indicating your receiving code as well as your the number of your file.
Beware of Middlemen and Kayungirizi. Applications made by Middlemen are not accepted or received.

Step Six:

Take your passport in PERSON within ten working days (normal applicants for passports) (or the two (2) work days (for Express Passport Applications) from the date you completed the application unless you are advised otherwise from an immigration officer. You will need to show your receipt slip and proof of identity at the time of obtaining you passport in the Passport Delivery Office.

  9. Then, you should print the completed application along with 3 copies of your invoice. You should then present them to the Directorate of Citizenship and the IMMIGRATION CONTROL department office.
  10. An online registration form requires applicants to fill in every detail. Once you have filled in all the required information, you will be asked to go through the form and verify that the information on the form are accurate. If all is fine, you are able to continue with your final form submission.

Visit the immigration office to complete your application

  1. After printing the application form and invoice, you will need to go to Directorate of Citizenship and immigration control office in Kampala or Regional Immigration Offices, or at the Uganda High Commission abroad for the collection of fingerprints, digital photos and signature , and to drop the necessary documents.
  2. You have to be present in person to take a digital photograph and biometric capture at the Directorate of Citizenship and immigration control offices at Kampala and Regional Immigration Offices , or at the Uganda High Commission overseas.

    • Written explanation for changes in names, addressed an explanation in writing addressed to Passport Control Officer.

  3. Once the application is submitted, your passport is available to be picked up from the Directorate of Citizenship and immigration control centers after two working days of processing if it is express or 10 working days for normal processing.
  4. It is mandatory to carry ID proof when you pick up the passport. You can also track the application progress through your online account https://www.passports.go.ug. You will be notified via either email or text message when it is time you have to collect your passport.

Requirements Information
