Obtain an International Driver Permit / License (IDL, IDP) In Macau

  1. For an application in order to obtain the International Driving License visit the Transport Bureau (China Plaza) Office.
  2. The application forms to apply for an IDL are available at counters for service at the Bureau or download the forms the Bureau’s website (link is available under the “Documents to Use” section).
  3. Show the original copy of your current identity card as well as a an active Macao Driver’s license. You’ll also be required to provide an image of your identity document and license.
  4. Additionally, you need to send two 1.5 inches color photographs from the past (with white backgrounds).
  5. Pay the application fee or taxes.
  6. The license will be issued within a day. Notification: The service time is only open for applications submitted prior to 16:00 and all required documents were provided.

  • Original copy of current Macao Driving license
  • International Driving License Application Form (AppMod. No. 043/DLC):

Eligibility

Motorists who intend to drive in regions or countries other than Macao SAR can be eligible to apply for an International Driving License.

Validity

IDLs do not intend to substitute legitimate Macau driver’s licenses. They are to be used only in conjunction with the valid license. Be sure that whenever you travel overseas, you have with you the Macau Driver’s License and your IDL.
