Obtain Milk Mini Dairy or Dispenser License In Uganda By Yourself

  4. If everything is in order, you are able to proceed into the next phase of making your application for a license . When areas of non-compliance are found, necessary changes must be made.
  5. Before a person is allowed to open an mini-dairy/milk dispenser facility, the authorities must ensure that the applicant has the necessary qualifications to carry out the task.
  6. A request to establish mini-dairy or milk dispenser facilities must be made on the form 2 in the schedule of the Regulations.
  7. The application should be accompanied by the fees that is specified in the fourth schedule of the regulations.
  8. The applicant be, in addition to the fees mentioned above , be sure that the structures:
    • The housing of the unit must have enough space for the unit to work in hygiene or sanitation conditions.
    • and design must permit the positioning of equipment in as to not hinder the flow of personnel and product.
  9. (Materials employed in construction must be non-toxic for humans.
    • The material must be non-decomposable and water resistant in the workplace, however this does not include the linings made of polyethylene.
    • The walls in the workroom must be clean, smooth and have a consistent design.
    • Get regular advice from DDA’s compliance officers regarding their advice on the Milk Cottage industry , how they should be designed , and equipment layouts are discussed.
  10. After the mini-dairy or milk dispenser facilities or premises In the event of a problem, call the local DDA office to arrange for an initial examination to the premises.
  11. If areas of non-compliance are discovered during the inspections, changes are required to ensure that all is up to scratch.
  12. If everything is in order, you are able to proceed to the next step . You must apply for a mini-dairy/milk dispenser premises permitor license via the Dairy Development Authority Licensing Board.
  13. When the payment has been received, the mini-dairy or milk dispenser’s license is processed within twenty-five working days.
  14. The license is valid for a duration of one year. it is possible to begin operations right away.
  15. Make sure to pay monthly dues and levies when and where appropriate. Other terms and conditions for the license’s issue must be adhered to (Non-compliance could result in suspension of the permit)

Eligibility

  1. A license for processing milk is granted to cooling facilities for milk processing more than or below 5 tonnes of raw milk each day.
  2. The milk cooling facility must meet the laid out hygiene and operational standards. This includes compliance with the following areas, among others;
    • Premises: must be appropriately situated properly, designed, ventilated lit and free of contamination
    • Equipment: Equipment pipes accessories, and other contact surfaces that are in contact with milk or milk products must be simple to clean and sanitize durable and constructed from food-grade material
    • Personnel: The milk handling staff must be well-groomed and clean in a well-dressed, professional attire and certified medically
    • Record keeping: High-quality records should be kept and maintained.
    • Waste management: Effluents and other solid wastes need to be handled in accordance with the regulations
    • Utilities: Affordable supply of potable drinking water and other essential utilities, based on the type of operation
    • The management of premises must be overseen by a competent supervisor or manager
    • Operations: The recommended processing times should be observed e.g. timing controls and cooling temperatures
    • Control of vermin and rodents Facilities should be guarded from invasion by flies rodents, birds, and other vermin

  • Annual fee for licenses Ugsh. 100,000
  • Application fees Nil.

Validity

  • The duration of validity is one year.
  • In the event of non-compliance, it could result in the denial of the permit

Processing Time

  • The processing time is about 25 days.

Instruction

  1. Make sure that the mini-dairy or milk dispenser’s premises to be in compliance with the requirements of inspection.
  2. Ask the building to be examined with The DDA inspectorate.
  3. Inspections are carried out on an application cost.
  4. After a successful inspection, the customer is granted the leasing of the building after payment of the necessary charges.
  5. Licenses are issued.
