Applying for the card first time:

Birth Certificates authenticated by the Foreign Embassy of your country of the country of (with the exclusion of Portugal)
Two passport size photographs
Completed and signed application form

Renewal:

Birth Certificates authenticated by the Foreign Embassy of your country of the country of (with the exclusion of Portugal)
National identity card that is expired
Two passport size photographs

Retrieving the card in case of loss

Two passport size photographs
Form filled out and signed form
Statement of Loss for PSP’s national identification card (issued through PSP)
Birth Certificates that have been certified by the Consular Service or Embassy from the state of the country of (with the except of Portugal)

Processing Time

If you apply for a normal application generally, it will take 2 days to get your ID card after the date you submit your application. If you chose to submit an urgent request, you’ll get your ID card straight immediately.
