How To Register Business Name In Australia
- ASIC Connect – This is an online service that can be used to register a company name. Sign in to your account and begin with the process of registration. If you’re logging into your account on your first attempt, ensure that you do not say “no” because you don’t have a current company. You don’t require an ASIC number to register.
- Select the Registrations and Licences tab located at near the top on the ASIC Connect page.
- Choose “register an organization under the name” by selecting the dropdown list.
- Choose Get Started and supply all necessary details..
- Check your application. Verify that the name of your business is correctly spelled.
- Complete your declarations.
- Make sure you pay the fee for registration. Be aware that if you fail to pay in the ten days following your payment of applying to register a company name will be canceled and you’ll have to apply again.
- Wait for confirmation.

Options for payment:
- Credit card Visa or MasterCard. Visa and MasterCard.
- Invoice – You are able to pay by BPAY on a later date or visit the nearest Australia Post office in person. Make sure you give three working days to process your payment.
- BPAY – Allow three weeks for processing electronically. We will also send you an invoice to your email address.
- If you’re applying for a business’s name via the Australian Business Register (ABR), ASIC will automatically send an invoice to the email address you supply.
