1.Prospective adoption parent(s) must contact an orphanage in the area to find the child.

2.After the identification of the child the orphanage should contact INAC (National Institute for the Child) to get their opinion. INAC issues a form of consent that gives permission to the child to be adopted.

3.The adoption parent(s) will then make an application to the Parliament (National Assembly) in order to get the acceptance to adopt the child.

  • With this request, the adoptive parent also attaches the necessary documents.

4.As the adoptive parents wait for their request to be granted and then submit a separate petition in the Family Court Room requesting guardianship of the child.

  • A request to guardianship could be made at the same with the request of the National Assembly is submitted.
