Application In Person (Via Department of Fisheries)

  • Candidates must visit the office or sub-offices for the Department of Fisheries in your district to apply in the category of “Fishermen Injury Group Insurance”.
  • Take your ” Fishmen’s Incident Group Insurance” application form at the fisheries office.
  • Fill in the form with all the information required and make sure that you have all the documents that you require they appear in the “Required Documents” section on this page.
  • After filling in the form, attach the required documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section to the application form that you have completed.
  • Examine the application form, and then forward it to the authority in charge.
  • Pay the fees to apply for the relevant authority.
  • The verification officer after validating the application form and the documents will provide you with an acknowledgement/receiving slip.

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be a fisherman/fisherwoman by caste or by occupation.
  • The applicant must fall within the ages of 18 – 60 years.
  • Applicant must hold an official fishing license from the state or UT government.
  • The applicant must be a citizen of India.

Fees

  • The application fee is not charged from fishermen who wish to make an application for Fisherman Group Accident Insurance.

Validity

The insurance protection in the Fisherman Accident Group Insurance will last for 12 months.

  • A person who is applying for insurance will be covered for INR 50,000 in case of accidental death as well as permanent disability
  • A person who is applying for insurance will be covered for INR Rs.25,000 to cover the possibility of permanent partial disability.
  • A contribution of no kind to the premium is expected from fishermen.
  • The program will include fishermen who are involved in coastal and inshore fishing.
